Curating Forms of Care in Art and Activism: A Roundtable on Life Support

Gausden, Caroline, Kirsten Lloyd, Nat Raha, and Catherine Spencer. ‘Curating Forms of Care in Art and Activism: A Roundtable on Life Support’. In Curating with Care, edited by Elke Krasny and Lara Perry, 153–68. London ; New York: Routledge, 2023.

In this roundtable, four curators, theorists, art historians and practitioners revisit the premise and structure of the Life Support exhibition project (2021), paying particular attention to the issues raised through the process of its delivery and enactment. Topics include working with alterative institutions, negotiating the impact of the pandemic (both practically and politically), access, extractive infrastructures and connecting with longer histories of struggle through the archive. These issues are analysed through a variety of lenses from the ethics of care and social reproduction perspectives to decolonial frameworks.
